There are an amazing number of “Westerners” living and working or just being retired in Viet Nam. Every year the Furama Resort has a Christmas celebration for them. Songs are sung by a Vietnamese choir in English and Latin, and tables of finger food and drinks are there free for the guests. Then most of the Westerners board buses and travel around and surprise Vietnamese at local restaurants singing Christmas carols and toasting a drink with the Vietnamese who often join the fun. Then we spend time at the last restaurant just for ourselves. It’s fun.
Additionally, with the work of local Christian churches and the cooperation of the City of Da Nang, the main city theater is used to host a Christmas play with the audience joining in song. The actors in the play are Vietnamese.
